"In the School of Communication and Mass Media, students get the opportunity to have hands-on, real-world experiences during their first year at Northwest. They can be involved in the two radio stations, a television station, converged print and online newspaper, yearbook, online arts and entertainment magazine or video and audio recording studios. Many of these students are eligible to travel to the different national workshops/conventions where the Northwest Missourian and Tower have won Best In Show awards. Sponsorship for these trips would be greatly appreciated to offset the budget of both of these opportunities.
Various, up-to-date equipment is necessary to provide students with relevant profession-based learning opportunities. Donations to Communication and Mass Media help provide cameras, microphones, soundboards, studio renovations, and much more for students to use. Additionally, the Michael Faust Media Lab has 24 state-of-the-art Mac desktops that will be coming up for a refresh next year. The School of Communication and Mass Media has to purchase these computers out of their technology budgets, which greatly reduces the money available for other necessities and equipment."
